Mr. Charles R. Lynch, 85, of 1520 Madison, died at 1:50 p.m. Sunday (January 4, 2004) in Blessing Hospital. Born May 28, 1918 in Chicago, Mr. Lynch was the son of Charles S. and Lottie Forrest Lynch. He married Marian W. Sanderson on May 11, 1946 in Galesburg, Illinois. She survives. Mr. Lynch was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Quincy American Legion Post #37. He served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II. Mr. Lynch was a baker by trade, and was employed by Bueter's Baking Company and the Illinois Veterans Home. Survivors include his wife, Marian; a son, Charles W. Lynch and his wife Georgene of Iowa City, IA.; three daughters, Ruth Ann Lynch of Claremont, CA., Gail Tanner of Springfield, IL. and Erin Cherington and her husband Craig of Quincy; nine grandchildren, Bill Lynch of New York, NY, Andrew Lynch of Iowa City, IA., Marianne Lynch and Rebecca Lynch both of Claremont, CA., Kimberly Tanner, Kelsey Tanner and Beth Tanner all of Chicago, IL. and Caitlyn Cherington and Colleen Cherington both of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Lynch was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leroy Lynch and Peter Lynch; and a sister, Kathleen Ahern. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Mary Catholic Church by the Rev.Michael Kuse. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home. A parrish prayer service will be held Wednesday evening. Memorials may be made to St. Mary School. |
