Mrs. Mary A. Martin, 80, of rural Liberty, died at 4:39 p.m. Tuesday (May 20, 2003) in Blessing Hospital. Born April 11, 1923 in Quincy, Mary was the daughter of Sherrill and Mary Sparrow Schuckman. Mary was devoted to her family and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and watching WCW wrestling. Mary had worked as a waitress for Sprout's Inn, the Train Depot and the Holiday Inn. She owned and opereated the Courthouse Grill for many years and she co-owned the Adams Trading Post for 11 years. For the past 34 years, Mary shared her life with Louis "Buster" Wieprecht who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Carol Houseweart and her husband David of Quincy and Linda Smith and her husband Vern of Nowata, OK.; five sons, Charles Shepherd and his wife Marion of Quincy, Gerald E. Shepherd and her husband Jayna of Lynwood, KS., Roy Shepherd and his wife Deanna of LaGrange, MO., Sherrill Shepherd of Jacksonville, IL. and Edward L. Martin of San Diego, CA.; 19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; a sister, JoAnn Platt of Quincy; four brothers, Louis Schuckman and his wife Sally, Bob Schuckman and his wife Kathryn, William Schuckman and his wife Pearl and Jerry Schuckman and his wife Kathy all of Quincy; a sister in law, Mary Schuckman of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Mitzi Shepherd; a grandson, Brian Houseweart; and two brothers, Dick Schuckman and Charles Schuckman. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Larry Troxel. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Saturday morning until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mary Martin Memorial Fund. |
