| Mrs. Dorothy A. Matson, 84, of Quincy, died at 12:13 p.m. Monday (June 4, 2001) in Blessing Hospital. Born December 30, 1916 in Fowler, Dorothy was the daughter of Clem R. and Mabel Shriver Schlipmann. She married Verne W. Matson on November 6, 1941 in the Methodist Parsonage in St. Louis, MO. He died in Colorado on October 7, 1975. Mrs. Matson was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ where she was active in the Salem Evening Guild and the Salem Singles. She was a volunteer for the Adams County Red Cross and she was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary in Monte Vista, CO. for many years. Mrs. Matson attended the Francis School of Beauty Culture in Quincy where she received her cosmetology degree in January of 1939. She worked as a beautician at Lucille's Beauty Shop in Monte Vista, CO. where she and her husband lived for nearly thirty years. She returned to Quincy in 1976 after the death of her husband and worked at Rosella's Beauty Salon until it was sold in 1984. Surviving are two sisters, Selma McNaughton of Quincy, and Alta Benson of Roseville, CA; a niece, Diane Matthews and her husband Dave of Roseville, CA; and one nephew, John Benson and his wife Jeri of Roseville, CA. Mrs. Matson was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Memorial services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Steven Disseler. Family will meet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Homelake Veterans Cemetery in Homelake, CO. Memorials may be made to Salem Church or to the Good Samaritan Home. |
