James M. "Jim" McComas, 80, of 707 Madison, died at 7:25 a.m. Friday (Jan. 5, 2001) in Blessing Hospital.

Born March 18, 1920 in Beardstown, MR. McComas was a son of Charles M. and Lydia Bradbury McComas. He married Reta K. Wallace July 10, 1942, in St. Petersburg, FL. She died May 17, 1975. He later married Jean Miller Standard June 26, 1976, in Galesburg. She survives.

Jim was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and graduated from Beardstown High School. He was an avid railroad train enthusiast and a member of Quincy American Legion Post 37 and the National, State and Local Hairdresser's Association. He had been a licensed cosmetologist since 1936 and was president of Key Beauty Salon Inc. until his retirement in 1986. He served his country in World War II as a chief yeoman in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Dougherty of Pittsfield and Nancy Holden and her husband, Thomas, of Quincy; four stepchildren, Lonnie Standard of Pensacola, FL., Laurie Jennings and her husband, Bob, of Galesburg, Leon Standard and his friend, Felicia, of Dallas, TX., and Lisa Elsenpeter and her husband, Rob, of Bloomington; nine grandchildren, Robert Heiden and his wife, Melissa, Scott Heiden and his wife Sara, Jeremy Heiden and Jeff Weisenburger and his wife, Myrtle, all of Quincy, Alex Dougherty and Victoria Dougherty, both of Pittsfield, Amy Barrington and her husband, Willie, of Canton, MO., Jamie Weisenburger and his wife Barbara, of Loraine, and Janelle Dolbeare and her husband, Michael, of Payson; 11 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew.

Mr. McComas was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Reta, a sister, Mary Lanier; an infant brother, Hale; and a great grandchild, Adam Weisenburger.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Larry Troxel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
