Mr. Floyd Meyer, 93, of Sunset
Home, formerly of Payson, died at 5:30
a.m. Sunday (June 20, 2004) at the home.
Mr. Meyer was born January 13, 1911 in Burton, Illinois. He was the
son of G.F. and Cora Kuhn Meyer. He was married August 25, 1932 to Helen
E.
Minnick in Pittsfield, Illinois. She survives.
Floyd was a member of Payson Christian Church and the Plainville Lions
Club.
Floyd was a farmer and then drove a bulk gas truck for DX and Mobile.
He later worked at Calcium Carbonate Company until his retirment in 1976.
Floyd was an avid camper and horseman. He loved riding horses and was
responsible for breaking trails at Siloam Springs State Park so he and
others could enjoy trail riding.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Payson; two daughters, Betty
Jenkins and her husband Harold Kay of Liberty, Il., Virginia Brown and
her
husband Ray of Albuquerque, NM.; a son Kenneth Meyer and his wife Janet
of
Payson, Il.; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and four
great great grandchildren; a brother Earl Meyer and his wife Dorothy of
Palmyra, MO.; and a sister Bernice Degard of Kirksville, MO.
Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons Lloyd
and Floyd Meyer Jr., two sisters Ruth Fountain and Myrtle Hoehne, and
great
grandson Layne Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:30 in the Zehender
Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson, Illinois by Mr. Bob Carnes,
Rev. Terry Henry and Rev. Ron Cox. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery
near
Hannibal, MO.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:oo to 7:00 in Payson and
Friday until the time of services.
Memorials may be made to Sunset Home or Plainville Lions Club.
