Mr. Arthur H. Nebe, 84, of Lees Summit, Missouri, died at 12:43 a.m. Monday (June 23, 2003) in Lees Summit, Missouri.

Born January 10, 1919 in Quincy, Mr. Nebe was the son of Arthur George and Ionia Jane Thixton Nebe. He married Margie M. Reynolds Sade on December 10, 1982 in Kansas City, Missouri. She survives.

Mr. Nebe served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II as a Rifle Platoon Sergeant with the 7th Infantry Division. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Battle Stars, the Philippine Defense Ribbon with 2 Bronze Battle Stars, a Bronze Star Medal, 1st Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart for wounds he received in Okinawa. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the D. A. V. in Kansas City.

Mr. Nebe was employed for the U. S. Postal Service on the railway for over 10 years and then for many years as a rural mail carrier in Payson. He retired on March 1, 1979 after 34 years of Federal Civil Service.

Also surviving are two daughters, Karen Matthews of Lees Summit, MO. and Janet Curtis and her husband Jerry of Kansas City, MO. And from a previous marriage, two daughters, Rita Pieper and her husband John J. and Cecilia Woods and her husband Wendell all of Quincy; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Nebe and his wife Ingrid of Quincy; three sisters, Vivian Dobey and her husband Reuben of Quincy, Ionia Bailey of Sun City, AZ. and Norma Jean Robertson and her husband Jim of Riverside, CA.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Nebe was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Nebe; and two sisters, Marie Yates and Royln Hughes.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. George Tomko and Greg Bailey. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post #37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Friday until the time of services at the funeral home.
