| Mr. Richard Nebe, 70, of 901 Shady Acres, died at 1:22 a.m. Wednesday (March 13, 2002) in Blessing Hospital. Born October 8, 1931 in Quincy, Mr. Nebe was the son of Elmer and Opal Walker Nebe. He was previously married to Norma Patterson DeWitt. He married Naydean Tournear Austin on December 30, 1988 in Quincy. She survives. Richard was a member of Payson Road Christian Church at the Crossing and was a 35 year member of the Moose Lodge. He was an avid bowler and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking and going to auctions. He also enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Mr. Nebe had been employed by the State of Illinois Highway Department and later as the City Superintendent for the City of Quincy for 16 years. He retired as Superintendent of Woodland Cemetery in 1996. Also surviving are three daughters, Melissa Cookson and her husband Kevin of Quincy, Robin Wilbert of Tulsa, OK. and Clarissa Nebe of Tampa, FL.; two step daughters, Carolyn Orr of Quincy and Cheri Copp and her husband Dave of Great Falls, MT.; a step son, Randall Austin and his wife Michele of Quincy; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Chapple and her husband Carl of Quincy and Jackie Reed and her husband Ralph of Reno, NV.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Nebe was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jimmy Nebe; a daughter, Pam Hawkins; a brother, Elmer "Sonny" Nebe; and a sister, Wanda Ledbetter. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Harris. Inurnment will be at a later date in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch or Payson Road Christian Church at the Crossing. |
