| Mr. Robert B. Nelson, 77, of 518 North 14th, died at 7:09 a.m. Sunday (January 21, 2001) in his home. Born December 18, 1923 in Mt. Sterling, IL., Mr. Nelson was the son of Dr. Harmon E. and Henrietta Rippel Nelson. He married Frances Six on April 30, 1965 in Quincy, IL. She died in 1976. Mr. Nelson was a member of Luther Memorial Church. He was a graduate of Quincy High School and was a member of the Quincy American Legion Post # 37, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #535, and the Travelers Protective Association. He served his country in the Navy during WWII. Robert was the owner of the Robert B. Nelson Insurance Agency in Quincy for many years. Surviving is a brother, William F. Nelson and his wife Lucy of Quincy; three nieces, Victoria Gersbacher and her husband Willard of Hilliard, OH., Sandra Jones and her husband Randy of Taylor, MO., and Debra Searle and her husband James of Schaumburg, IL.; three nephews, Gary Nelson and his wife Sue of Forsyth, IL., John R. Nelson and his wife Burnetta of Glen Ellyn, IL., and Steven Nelson and his wife Renee of Quincy; and several great nieces and nephews. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Charles "Doc", Maurice, and Richard J. Nelson. Private graveside services will be held Wednesday in Greenmount Cemetery by the Rev. Leland Uden. Memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Church.
