Mrs. Ruth L. O'Bryan, 88, of
the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 1110
Gerard Ave., died at 10:10 a.m. Friday (October 15, 2004) at the home.
Born October 16, 1915 in Philadelphia, MO., Ruth was the daughter of
Lyonal and Katie Claggett Brower. She married George L. O'Bryan on June
6,
1937 in Bowling Green, MO. He survives.
Ruth was a member of The Crossing and a member of the Christian Women
United of Quincy. She was a volunteer at Blessing Hospital and also served
on the Woman's Board at Blessing. Before her marriage she taught two years
in Marion County Missouri rural schools. Later she was employed in the
offices of Moorman Manufacturing for over 26 years until her retirement
in
1973.
Also surviving is a son, James F. O'Bryan and his wife Ellen of
Hannibal, MO.; a daughter, Sandra Weir of Rockford, IL.; four grandchildren,
Dina Rhoten and her husband Tom of Marshfield, MO., Neil O'Bryan and his
wife Julie of Palmyra, MO., Kelly Powers and her husband Frank of
South Beloit, IL, and Timothy Weir and his wife Jessica of Rockford, IL.;
four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elma Huff of Independence, MO.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rosalie Harris
and Loretta Rice; and a son in law Tom Weir.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 in the Zehender
Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Harris. Entombment
will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be William Dowlin, Robert
Meine, Neil O'Bryan, Tim Weir, Tom Rhoten and Frank Powers.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 and Monday
until the time of the services at the funeral home.
