JOHN M. PARKS
 

Mr. John M. Parks, 85, of 2808 Hampshire, died at 8:38 p.m. Tuesday (January 7, 2003) in Blessing Hospital.

Born January 14, 1917 in Palmyra, MO., Mr. Parks was the son of Edward Andrew and Grace Amber King Parks. He married Veronica Halko on July 21, 1944 in Harrisburg, PA. She survives.

Mr. Parks was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Elks Lodge No. 100. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and especially enjoyed woodworking. Mr. Parks served his country in the Civilian Conservation Corps and later with the U. S. Army during WW II in the Rhineland, Ardennes and Northern France.

Mr. Parks was employed as a rural mail carrier for more than 27 years, retiring in 1977.

Also surviving is a daughter, Mary Ann Lundberg and her husband Robert of Maywood, MO.; three sons, David Parks and his wife Barbara of Birmingham, AL., Michael Parks and his wife Elizabeth of Quincy and James Parks and his wife Karen of Chicago, IL.; eight grandchildren, Robert Lundberg Jr., Brian Lundberg, John Lundberg, Thomas Lundberg, Andrew Parks, Samuel Parks, W. Mitchell Parks and Laura Parks ; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Norman Parks and his wife Doris of Leavenworth, KS.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Parks was preceded in death by his parents; his step father, Joe Dalheimer; two brothers, Garland and Emory Parks; and two sisters, Kathleen Studer and Vadis Jones.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Boniface Catholic Church by the Rev. John Carberry. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home. A Christian Wake Service will be held Friday evening at 6:00 in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church.
