Mrs. Dorothy Peters, 93, of the Sunset Home, formerly of 1405 Harrison, died at 7:50 p.m. Saturday (March 20, 2004) in Sunset Home.

Born February 12, 1911 in Adams County, Dorothy was the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Blaesing Schreacke. She married Joseph J. Peters on February 6, 1936 in Streator, Illinois. He died October 24, 1990.

Dorothy was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a 70 year member of the Western Catholic Union and a former member of the St. Mary Altar Society. Dorothy loved the outdoors, especially when she was able to work in her yard or garden.

Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Hall of Quincy; two sons, Lowell Peters and his wife Beverly and Darryl Peters and his wife Pat both of Quincy; a daughter in law, Ina Peters of Kansas City, MO.; eleven grandchildren, Jeanine Schroeder and her husband Carl of Cape Coral, FL., Michelle Obert and her husband John, Bruce Hall and his wife Jerri, Gary Hall and his wife Jill, Angela Waterkotte and her husband Scott, Paula Reed and her husband Scott, Amy Hyer and her husband Rob, Devin Peters, Jarrett Peters and Curtis Peters all of Quincy and Monica Fanning and her husband Gary of Lawrence, KS.; twenty three great grandchildren; two sisters, Emily Hilbing and Evelyn McClean both of Quincy; a sister in law, Dorothy Schreacke of Payson; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Warren Peters; three brothers, Ralph, Herbert and Markus Schreacke; and seven sisters, Cora Koch, Louise Wellman, Laura Peters, Irene Logan, Delores Genenbacher and two in infancy.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Mary Catholic Church by the Rev. Michael Kuse. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home. A Parish Prayer Service will be held Tuesday evening at 6:00 in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
