| Mr. John Paul Pierce, 93, of Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 2920 Whewell Ave., died at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday (July
18, 2001) in Good Samaritan Home. Born June 30, 1908 in Gilmer Township, Mr. Pierce was the son of Elmo E. and Charlotte Deege Pierce. He married Lila J. Dralle on November 7, 1929 in Quincy. She died April 2, 1968. Mr. Pierce was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Liberty, the Adams County Farm Bureau and a life member of the Good Samaritan Home Association. He attended Mt. Pleasant and West Union Grade Schools and was a graduate after 3 years of Liberty High School and a graduate of Quincy High School. He also was a graduate of Gem City Business College. Mr. Pierce was employed by Gordon Van Tyne, Moorman Manufacturing Company and retired after 23 years as a salesman for Adams FS in Paloma. He also farmed on his family farm near Liberty. Surviving are three nephews, Robert Schlinkmann, John Schlinkmann and Paul Schlinkmann all of Quincy; and several cousins including June Fehlberg and her husband Emerson, Richard Pierce and his wife Elaine of Quincy, John Deege and his wife Betty of Liberty and Marcia Franklin and her husband Bill of Springfield; and many loving friends. Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Ronald F. Graham. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Good Samaritan Home. |
