Mrs. Gladys Lee Points, 97, of 3713 Meadow Drive, died at 12:05 a.m. Saturday (May 24, 2003) in Blessing Hospital. Born January 31, 1906 in Stone, North Dakota, Gladys was the daughter of Manford and Edith Hogan Wilson. She married Jesse "Jess" C. Points on June 21, 1938 in Holliday, Missouri. He died June 29, 1972. Gladys was a member of Faith Christian Church. She was active for many years in Eastern Star, Alpha Delta Kappa Teaching Sorority, Adams County Republican Women's Club and the Blessing Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed oil painting. A 1923 graduate of Clayton High School, Gladys received her teaching certificate from Western Illinois State Teachers College. She taught 41 years in public and private grade schools, including several Adams County schools, Ellington and St. Peter's grade schools in Quincy, LaGrange, Missouri grade school and the Phoenix Indian School in Arizona. Surviving is a son, Roy Points and his wife Karen of Quincy; a daughter in law, Betty Ann Points of East Peoria, IL.; four grandchildren, Brian Points of East Peoria, Eric Points of Quincy, Aaron Points and his wife Emily of Peoria and Holly Cain and her husband David of Quincy; two great grandchildren, Caylin and Evan Cain, both of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Points was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Larry Points; and four brothers, Ivan, Hubert, Francis and Troy Wilson. Private family graveside services will be held in Greenmount Cemetery by Rev. Henry Pratt. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 3:00 until 6:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Vincents Home. |
