Mr. Douglas J. Powell, 59,
of 935 Kentucky, died at 6:47 p.m. Monday (March 31, 2003) in Blessing Hospital.
Born February 19, 1944 in Quincy, Doug was the son of William and Goldie
Abel Powell. He married Connie Conners of May 21, 1966 in Quincy. She survives.
Mr. Powell was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed duck and goose hunting, mushroom
hunting, and fishing. He was also a member of the South Side Boat Club.
Doug was employed as a construction worker for the Labor Local #919 of which he was a life long member.
Also surviving is a daughter, Mitzie Pullman and her husband Wayne of Quincy,
a son, Douglas Powell Jr. and his wife Sandy of Quincy, a son, Mikey Powell
of Quincy, a daughter, Angela Hale and her husband John of Rushville,
and a daughter, Becky Powell of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Shawn Pullman
of Quincy, Jennifer Powell of Hannibal, Lucas, Susan Sarah, and Devon Powell,
all of Quincy, and Cory Powell of Clayton; three brothers; five sisters; four
beloved pets, Sis, Sam, Sassy, and Precious; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and six brother and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 in Zehender Robinson
Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. S.D. Bodwell. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 and Friday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
