| Mr. Joseph F. "Bud" Powell, 78, of the Illinois Veterans Home Markword Infirmary, formerly of 2411 Hampshire,
died at 6:10 p.m. Sunday (February 11, 2001) in the Illinois Veterans Home. Born September 15, 1922 in Quincy, Mr. Powell was the son of Joe B. and Mildred H. Reis Powell. He married Shirley J. Voorhis Wyatt on July 2, 1949 in Palmyra, MO. She survives. Bud served in the U. S. Marine Corps during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. He was an avid hunter and loved to skeet and trap shoot. Bud was employed as a core maker for Gardner-Denver and later for Midwest Patterns for many years until his retirement in 1985. Also surviving is a daughter, Donna Powell of Kansas City, MO.; two sons, Roger Wyatt of Phoenix, AZ. and James Wyatt and his wife Linda of Rockford, IL.; three grandchildren, Amanda Austin of San Diego, CA., Todd Wyatt and his wife Mary of Denver, CO. and Ted Wyatt of Denver, CO.; three great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Powell and his wife Bertie of Sanford, FL.; two sisters, Nona Plawer and her husband Ralph and Myrtle Milhauser and her husband Ralph both of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Judy Taylor. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Friday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Markword Infirmary Second Floor of the Illinois Veterans Home. |
