| Shirley Darlene Purdum, 91, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of Florida, died at 4:06 p.m. June 22, 2002, in
the home. Born November 8, 1910, in Augusta, Shirley was the daughter of Kelsey James and Mary Hannah Watts Morrison. She married LeRoy Dale "Bud" Purdum on January 31, 1931, in Macomb. He died in 1980. Shirley was a member of the First Christian Church. She was a RSVP volunteer and a member of the Good Samaritan Home Auxiliary. She enjoyed planting the many flowers around the cottages at Good Samaritan Home. She was first employed at the telephone company in Macomb, and for more than nine years she worked in the Office of Electrical Procurement for the Ametek Manufacturing Company in East Moline. Surviving is a half sister, Clara Willard of Quincy; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a half sister, Mae Cowdery. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb by the Rev. Jobey Brown. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 11:00 until 12:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Home or to the First Christian Church. |
