Mrs. Doris Roan, age 88, of 2053 Elm, died at 1:19 a.m. Thursday (March 1, 2001) in the St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

Born January 11, 1913 in Dewey County, OK., Mrs. Roan was the daughter of Ulysses and Ethel Butler Sands. She married Homer Leo Roan on June 10, 1933, in Burkburnett, TX. He died September 27,1982.

Mrs. Roan was a member of Central Baptist Church, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and was a volunteer at Blessing Hospital for many years. She enjoyed working outdoors, gardening and cherished the time she spent with her family.

Mrs. Roan was the Postmaster in Marblehead for 17 years, retiring in 1975.

Surviving is a son, Arman Roan and his wife Sally of Jacksonville Ill; a step daughter, Jacqueline Hargrove and her husband Bob of Sedona, Az; a daughter in law, Joanne Roan of Decatur, IL.; 13 grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; three sisters, Grace Choate and her husband James and Joyce Genzler and her husband Robert both of Midwest City, OK, and Jewel Apple and her husband Dean of El Reno, OK.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Roan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Duane Roan; three brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Baker. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
