Mrs. Hester E. Root, 72, of the St. Vincent's Home, died at 4:05 a.m. Saturday (February 15, 2003) in Blessing Hospital. Born March 11, 1930 in Quincy, Hester was the daughter of David and Una I. Darnell Houghton. She was married to Robert Fulmer and James Root. Surviving are two sisters, Desolee Brown and Rita Maggart both of Quincy; a sister in law, Shelby Jean Houghton of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Root was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Ova, James, Alvin, Delbert and Floyd Houghton; and a sister in infancy. Graveside services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 in Greenmount Cemetery. There will be no visitation, but friends are invited to the services.
