Mrs. Mary E. Ruby, 75, of 206 W. Brainard, Payson, IL., died at 9:35 a.m. Saturday (January 13, 2001) in Blessing Hospital.

Born January 16, 1925 in Chicago, IL., Mary was the daughter of William and Mary Stanton Ahern. She married Elmo F. "Bud" Ruby on October 13, 1945 in Chicago. He survives.

Mary was of the Catholic Faith. She enjoyed playing bingo and poker, and the 22 years in retirement that she and Bud spent in Silver Springs, Florida.

A graduate of Austin High School in Chicago, Mary was employed at Brad Foote Gear Works in Chicago and later as a clerk and typist for General Motors Parts Department for many years.

Also surviving is a daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Kubczak and her husband James of Cedar Rapids, IA.; two grandchildren, Benjamin Kubczak and Leah Kubczak both of Cedar Rapids, IA.; a brother, William Ahern and his wife Ann of Escondito, CA.; two nephews, Brian Ahern and Kevin Ahern and a niece Ellen Ahern all of California.

Mrs. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Margaret Ahern.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson by the Rev. Eugene Middendorf. Burial will be in the New Cemetery in Payson.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
