G. RUSSELL "RUSS" RUMMENIE
 

Mr. Russ Rummenie, 72, of 534 Sugarloaf, died at 1:10 a.m. Saturday (June 7, 2003).

Born July 11, 1930, in Quincy, Russ was the son of John Russell and Lena Kent Rummenie. He married Diana Speer October 14, 1967 in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Rummenie was a member of the First Christian Church, Spring Lake Country Club, Elks Lodge #100, and Twin Oaks. Russ enjoyed golfing, photography, and loved animals and nature. He served his country in Korea with the 101st Air Borne Division and received a Bronze Star, a Combat Infantry Badge, and the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Campaign Stars.

Russ was employed at Moorman Manufacturing form 1948 until 1973. He then worked at JK Creative Printers as a graphic artist from 1973 until his retirement in 1992.

Also surviving are two sons, Bruce Rummemie of Urbana, IL., and Denver Rummenie of Quincy; and three grandsons, James "Jimmy" Rummenie of Quincy, Chase Rummenie of Hannibal, and Samuel Rummenie of Urbana, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Joby Brown. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veterans Home.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society or to the First Christian Church.
