Mr. Kenneth Schieferdecker, 84, of 611 Country Club Heights, formerly of Payson, died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday (April 22, 2004) in his home.

Born July 18, 1919, in Clayton Township, Illinois, Kenny was the son of Elmer and Viola Chambers Schieferdecker. He married Emma Tyler on September 25, 1940 in Palmyra, Missouri. She died May 5, 2000.

Mr. Schieferdecker was a member of Payson United Methodist Church, Payson V. F. W. Post 2061 and the Coachman Camping Club. He served his country in the U. S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during WW II.

Mr. Schieferdecker farmed in Schuyler County before becoming a driver for the Carl Laeding Truck Company, where he worked for 18 years until his retirement in 1975. Following his retirement, he worked part time for Overhead Door Company and Dick Reichert Trucking Company until 1981.

Survivors include four sons, Gary Schieferdecker and his wife Jackie of Liberty, Larry Schieferdecker and his wife Marcia of Ursa, Terry Schieferdecker and his wife Diann of Quincy and Jerry "Joe" Schieferdecker and his wife Doris of Payson; ten grandchildren, Greg Schieferdecker and his wife Chris, Robert Schieferdecker and his wife Cindy , Scott Schieferdecker and his wife Bev, Ryan Schieferdecker and his fiance' Beth, Erica Schieferdecker, Troy Schieferdecker and his wife Tammy, Suzanne Schieferdecker, Tim Schieferdecker and his wife Jennifer, Julie Uppinghouse and her husband Randy and Kelly Beckman and her husband Aaron; thirteen great grandchildren, Tyler, Katie, Lucas, Anna,Wade, Kristie, Emily, Jack, Tori and Tanner Schieferdecker and Andrew, Heidi and David Boden; five step great grandchildren, Arika and Austin Uppinghouse and Ben, Ashley and Amanda Benge; two brothers, Glen "Ace" Schieferdecker and his wife Marilyn of Coatsburg and Ronnie Schieferdecker and his wife Lori of Holts Summit, MO.; a sister, Rita Lierly and her husband Dan of Liberty; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Schieferdecker was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emma; and a sister, Reva Gooding.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson by the Rev. Ron Cox. Burial with Military Honors by Payson V. F. W. Post 2061 will be in the Payson New Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home in Payson.
