Mr. Eugene C. "Willie" Schild, 77, of 1230 Jefferson, died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday (September 26, 2002) in his home. Born February 10, 1925 in Quincy, Willie was the son of John William and Pauline Myra Hufendick Schild. He married Phyllis L. Vest on May 3, 1952 in Quincy. She died October 9, 1998. Mr. Schild was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. He served his country as a medic in the U. S. Army during WW II. Willie was a 1943 graduate of Quincy High School and was an avid Cubs fan and bowler. He was also a member of the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps for many years and the Postal Union.. Mr. Schild was a letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service for 35 years until his retirement. Surviving is a daughter, Julie Finley of Arnold, MO.; two sons, Jeffrey Schild and his wife Betsy and John Schild all of Quincy; two grandchildren, John Schild and Christina Schild both of Quincy; a sister, Dorothea Piper and her husband Parke of Quincy; a brother, Robert Schild and his wife Betty of Quincy; a sister in law, Kay Schild of Quincy; a brother in law, Paul "Bill" Vest of Rancho Cordova, CA.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Schild was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Paul Schild; and his mother and father in laws, Julian and Genevieve Vest. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Timothy White. Burial with military honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ or the charity
of the donor's choice. |
