Mr. Edgar Louis Schmidt, 91, of Burton, died at 11:56 a.m. Friday (April 30, 2004) in the emergency room of Blessing Hospital. Born August 18, 1912 in Burton Township, Adams County, Illinois, Edgar was the son of Walter and Emma Meyer Schmidt. He married Helen S. Cutforth on November 10, 1937 in Palmyra, Missouri. She died March 10, 1992. Mr. Schmidt was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and the Liberty Lions Club. Mr. Schmidt farmed in Adams County for many years, retiring in 1985. Survivors include three sons, Eldon Schmidt and his wife Barbara of O'Fallon, IL., Raymond Schmidt and his wife Joyce of Morton, IL. and Lozelle Dale Schmidt and his wife Annette of Burton; four grandchildren, Julie Schmidt of Peoria, IL., Timothy Schmidt of Arlington, TX., Teri Schmidt of O'Fallon, IL. and David Schmidt and his wife Kady of Webster, TX.; a sister, Evelyn Kuhn of Payson; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Schmidt was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; a sister, Gladys Louise Fisher; and three brothers, Waldo Schmidt, Harold Schmidt and Ralph Schmidt. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson by Pastor Jon Cannon. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home in Payson. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. |
