Mr. Albert J. Schnelle, 89, of Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 2219 Cherry Lane Estates, died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday (February 3, 2004) in Blessing Hospital.

Born October 3, 1914 in Ursa Township, Adams County, Illinois, Mr. Schnelle was the son of August and Lena Voth Schnelle. He married Fern K. Stratman on May 4, 1940 in St. Paul Church in Warrenton, Missouri. She survives.

Mr. Schnelle served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II. He was awarded two Bronze Battle Stars for campaigns in New Guinea and Luzon and one Bronze Battle Star in the Philippines. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Gardner Denver Quarter Century Club, and was a fifty year member of Herman Lodge #39.

Mr. Schnelle was employed at Gardner Denver Company for 40 years, retiring as a maintenance foreman.

Survivors include his wife, Fern of Quincy; two sisters in law, Dorine Schnelle of Ursa and Iona Dedert of Mendon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Schnelle was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, August Schnelle; and a sister, Elva Schnelle.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Timothy White. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Church or Good Samaritan Home.
