Mrs. Alice A. Scott, 82, of Barry Community Care Center, formerly of Payson, died at 3:00 p.m. Friday (March 28, 2003) in the Barry Community Care Center.

Born December 27, 1920 in Burton Township, Alice was the daughter of David and Nellie Miller Howe. She married Harrell Scott on August 14, 1940 in Palmyra, Missouri. He died on December 11, 1972.

Mrs. Scott was a graduate of Seymour High School in Payson and an active member of the Payson Christian Church. She enjoyed playing the piano and loved to spend time with her family.

Surviving are three sons, David Scott and his wife Jewel A. and Robert Scott Sr. and his wife Shirley both of Quincy and Ronald Scott and his wife Anne of Payson; five grandchildren, Rena Slater and her husband Gary of Fall Creek, Gina Scott of Quincy, Robert Scott Jr. and his wife Kelly of Chatham, IL., Andrew Scott of Edwardsville, IL. and Adam Scott of Payson; and four great grandchildren, Garrett Slater of Fall Creek, and Kyle Scott, Ryan Scott and Taylor Scott all of Chatham, IL.

Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her parents; her step father, Frank Inman; her husband; a grandson, Jason Scott; a brother, Melvin Howe and a sister in infancy, Elsie Mae Howe.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson by the Rev. Jimmy Hodges. Burial will be in the Payson New Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:30 to 7:00 and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home in Payson.

Memorials may be made to the Barry Community Care Center Residents Fund.
