Mrs. Dorothea K. "Dot"
Scott, 93, of the Good Samaritan Home, died at
4:50 p.m. Wednesday (October 6, 2004) at the home.
Born January 31, 1911 in Camp Point, Illinois, Dorothea was the
daughter of Arthur and Amelia Bastert Graves. She married Joseph F. Scott
on
August 15, 1936 in Quincy. He died on January 1, 1980.
Mrs. Scott was a member of First Christian Church, the Carley Sunday
School Class, Sunshine Circle and the Women's City Club and Cedar Crest
County Club. She was a former member of the Great River and North East
Genealogy Society and volunteer at the Blessing Tea Room. Dot was also
an
avid bridge player.
Mrs. Scott was a 1929 graduate of Quincy High School and attended Gem
City Business College. She was employed as a secretary at the Illinois
Cream
Company until her marriage.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph G. Scott of Simponsville, S. C. and
Stephen H. Scott and his wife Elizabeth of Quincy; four grandchildren,
Kevin
of Miami, FL., Kelly of Reno, NV., Karline of Taylor, S. C. and Stephen
"Scotty" of Greensboro, N. C.; two great grandchildren, Patrick
and Blake
both of Taylor, S. C.; and a sister in law, Irma Scott of St. Louis, MO.
Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two
sisters, Marjorie Sturhahn and a twin, Beatrice Graves; and a brother
in
law, Dr. Henry Scott.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender
Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Joby Brown.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 12:00 until the time of
services at the funeral home.
At the request of Mrs. Scott, cremation rites will be accorded
following the funeral services. Private family inurnment will be in New
Salem Cemetery in Ashland, Missouri.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund.
