Mrs. Mildred M. Seeland, 92, of the Sunset Home, formerly of Horseshoe Valley Road, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday (March 7, 2003) in Sunset Home. Born February 21, 1911 in Quincy, Mrs. Seeland was the daughter of Clifton Oliver and Mabel Jesse Jones Naderhoff. She married Clarence Sherman Seeland on May 29, 1930 in Quincy. He died on October 27, 1976. Mrs. Seeland was a member of Luther Memorial Church. She was a former member of the Grace Whipple Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Elks Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, South Side Boat Club and North Side Boat Club. Mildred organized the children's Christmas Party at Quincy Boat Club for 25 years and made many of the gifts that were given to the children. She enjoyed arts and crafts and her family remembers her as an excellent cook and her skills as a seamstress in making many of the dresses for family weddings. Mrs. Seeland helped her husband operate Quincy Well Drilling Company for many years. Surviving are two sons, Clarence E. Seeland and Terry R. Seeland both of Quincy; four daughters, Patsy Moore of Quincy, Scottie Bradford of Keokuk, IA., Sharon Theurer of Springfield, IL., Ernestine Koury and her husband David of Waterloo, IA.; 23 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; a sister, Janet Lotz of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Seeland was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Marcus Seeland; a daughter in law, Patricia Seeland; a son in law, John Bradford; three brothers, Dale, Leslie and Malcolm Naderhoff; and a sister, Vera Dittmeyer. Cremation rites were accorded to Mrs. Seeland. Memorial services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 in Luther Memorial Church by the Rev. Leland Uden. Inurnment will be in Quincy Memorial Park. The family will meet with friends Monday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services at Luther Memorial Church. Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. |
