Mrs. Patricia Ann "Pat"
Shaffer, 76, of 5220 Homan Falls Drive, died
at 12:51 a.m. Sunday (August 29, 2004) in Blessing Hospital.
Born March 23, 1928 in Orion, Illinois, Pat was the daughter of Sanford
and Gertrude Wilkins Lawson. She married Harold Gibson in 1951 in Orion,
Illinois. He died January 13, 1966. She married Richard Shaffer on October
13, 1979 in Luther Memorial Church in Quincy. He survives.
Pat was a member of Spring Lake Country Club and the Elks Lodge #100
Women's Auxiliary. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading, knitting
,arts and crafts and spending the winter months in Palm Springs, California
with her husband, Dick.
Pat taught Health and P. E. at Quincy Junior High School for 30 years
and also co-owned the I Do Bridal Shop in Quincy for many years.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Mike Gibson and his wife Sue
of Fairfield, Ohio and Brad Shaffer and his wife Tammy of Cincinnati,
Ohio;
a daughter, Christine Coleman and her husband Ernie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa;
five grandchildren, Allison Gibson and her fiance' Jason Raake of Fairfield,
Ohio, Ty Coleman and his wife Jennifer of Iowa City, Iowa, Julie Guy and
her
husband Willie II of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Austin Shaffer and Aaron
Shaffer both of Cincinnati, Ohio; two great grandchildren, Avery Guy and
Willie Guy III both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a sister, Gerry Everitt and
her
husband Bill of Freeport, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Shaffer was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband,
Harold; two brothers, Don Lawson and Robert Lawson; and a sister, Dorothy
Lawson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender
Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Jan Bengtson. Burial
will
be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Thursday
morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorial may be made to the ALS Association.
