Mrs. Hilma Sheer, 96, of Oak Grove, Missouri, formerly of 1701 Manor Hill and Cherry Lane Estates, died Wednesday (April 14, 2004) in Oak Grove Nursing Home. Born January 27, 1908 in Pleasant Grove, Illinois, Hilma was the daughter of Bert and Bertha Heinz Holmes. She married David M. Sheer on December 1, 1937 in P ittsfield, Illinois. He died on July 14, 1994. Hilma was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ and was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 195 in Pittsfield. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed growing flowers at her home and sharing bouquets with her friends and family. Survivors include two daughters, Marian Meyer of Peru, IN. and Marie Williams and her husband Glen of Lone Jack, MO.; two grandsons, Eric "Rick" Meyer of Fishers, IN. and Rockwell "Rocky" Meyer and his wife Lynn of Goshen, IN.; two step grandchildren, David Williams and his wife Sherri of Blue Springs, MO. and Lisa Williams of Clearwater, FL.; five great grandchildren, Hunter Meyer of Greenwood, IN., Nathanial Meyer and Dylan Meyer both of Goshen, IN., Heather Meyer of Fishers, IN. and Damian Wand of Stephenville, TX.; two step grandchildren, Taylor Williams and Jordan Williams both of Blue Springs, MO.; a sister, Ruth Bowen of Quincy; and a niece, Linda Springer of Pearl, IL. Mrs. Sheer was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Randall Meyer; and a sister Dorothy Lippincott. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon (April 22, 2004) at 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Stephen Schuette. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home. Pittsfield Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 195 will conduct services at 12:45 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. |
