Mrs. Mary M. Shepherd, 76, of the Sycamore Health Care Center, formerly of Hull, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday (November 14, 2003) in Sycamore Health Care Center. Born July 9, 1927 in Quincy, Mary was the daughter of Alvin and Grace Overstreet Mardis. She married Sherman M. Shepherd on September 26, 1947 in Quincy. He survives. Mary was a member of the Hull Community Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family. Survivors include her husband, Sherman of Hull; a daughter, Lori Ann Curry and her husband Joe of Battlefield, MO.; two sons, Jon David Shepherd and his wife Karen of Arnold, MO. and Sherman R. Shepherd of Springfield, IL.; six grandchildren, Justin Shepherd of Columbia, MO., Jerad Shepherd serving with the Peace Corps in Armenia, Jaclyn Shepherd of Collinsville, IL., and Austin Joseph Curry and Blake Daniel Curry both of Battlefield, MO.; four sisters, Virginia Edmonson and her husband Robert, Dorothy Dunsworth and her husband Melvin and Marjorie Giles and her husband Leon all of Quincy and Carolyn Lull of Independence, MO.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Shepherd was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Allison Brooke Curry; six brothers, Harold, Lyle "Bud", John, Junior, Charles and Harry Mardis; and four sisters, Louise Dickinson, Wilmar Mardis, Grace Mardis and a sister in infancy. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in the Hull Community Church by the Rev. Dean Collins. Burial will be in the New Cemetery in Payson. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson and Tuesday from 9:00 until the time of services at the church. Memorials may be made to the Hull Community Church. |
