Mrs. Wauneta Statts Thomas, 73, of 401 Elm, died at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday (July 23, 2002) in Blessing Hospital. Born March 17, 1929 in Maravia, Iowa, Wauneta was the daughter of Everett and Letha Ceneith Lockmon Bennett. She married Edwin Staats on April 14, 1963 in Muscatine, Iowa. He died August 3, 1982. She married Bill Thomas in 1996. Wauneta had been employed at Premier Laundry in Quincy. Surviving is her mother, Letha Baker of Ottumwa, IA.; four daughters, Vickie Bennett of Quincy, Peggy Christensen of Springfield, Linda Clark of Washington, D.C. and Brenda Staats of Texas; a son, Larry Clark and his friend Josie of Des Moines, IA.; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Wauneta was preceded in death by her father, Everett Bennett; her husband, Edwin Staats; and a son, Chuckie Clark. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. George Tomko. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services at the funeral home. |
