Mr. John J. Walton, 92, of 1438 Washington, died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday (January 10, 2002) in Blessing Hospital.

Born April 17, 1909 in Adams County, Mr. Walton was the son of Roy E. and Elizabeth Smith Walton. He married Frances M. Carl on September 21, 1933 in Quincy. She died on January 12, 1968.

Mr. Walton was employed for 33 years at Electric Wheel, a division of Firestone Tire and Rubber. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 201 and enjoyed hunting.

Surviving is a daughter, Betty Sparks and her husband Everett of Quincy; three sons, Kay Walton and his wife Janice of Georgetown, SC, Glen Walton and his wife JoAnn of Mendon and Dale Walton of Palatka, FL; 13 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; a sister, Joy Taylor of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Walton was preceded in death by his parents; a son in infancy; a great grandson, Rico Curto; and a brother, Earl Walton.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Roger Selves. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation or the North Adams Home.
