Mr. Max E. Wear, 77, of 1508 Wilmar Dr., died peacefully at 2:11 a.m. Saturday (March 22, 2003) in his home. Born June 28, 1925 in Macomb, Max was the son of George E. and Irene Hines Wear. He married Meda Faye Garkie on June 28, 1965 in the Lake of the Ozarks. She survives. Max attended Plymouth High School. He was the Governor of Moose Lodge # 986 in 1977. He was a member of the Legion of the Moose and Fellowship as well as many other organizations. He loved country music and was an avid race car fan who loved the sound of engines. He attended the Daytona 500 for 20 years and the Knoxville Sprint Car Nationals. He enjoyed traveling the country with his wife in their motor home. Max was also known for having a great sense of humor. Some of you may recall him saying, "use it or lose it." Mr. Wear was employed by Earl McElhoe's Garage and Oil Station in
Macomb after high school. Before joining the Navy he worked in a hay
field in
South Dakota. From 1943 until 1946 he served in the U.S. Navy Air Force
as an Aviation Machinist Mate 3rd Class. After returning home Max worked
for Eddy Sullivan at the Dodge and Plymouth dealership in Macomb. In
1946 he bought his own trucks and hauled livestock. He later leased
his trucks to Meinhart Cartage and hauled freight to Chicago. In 1953
he sold his trucks and joined Robert Buddemeyer and built the B & W
Garage in West Quincy which was later known as B & W Truck Repair.
In 1985 Max sold the business to A.J. Getz and began hauling milk for
George Lappin at Prairie Farms. He later hauled feed for Moorman Manufacturing
and finally joined Sisbro in March of Also surviving is his daughter, Kathie Farha Felix and her husband Larry of Phoenix, AZ.; two sons, Michael Wear and his wife Keren of Ft. Myers, FL., and Rodney Wear of West Palm Beach, FL.; two grandchildren, Stephanie Lauren Felix of Phoenix, AZ., and Michael Dean Wear II of Ft. Myers, FL.; two step grandchildren; one brother, Robert H. Wear and his wife Laura of Santa Anna, CA.; a sister in law, Eloise Wear of Colchester; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Keith Wear; and a niece, Brenda Wear. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in Zehender
Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. George Tomko. Burial will
be Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospice, the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society. |
