| Mr. James R. White, 75, of Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 310 Glendale Ct., died at 12:08 a.m. Thursday (January
11, 2001) in Blessing Hospital. Born December 18, 1925 in Kendrick, MS., Mr. White was the son of Harv and Beatrice Petty White. He married Eva Johnson on January 3, 1948 in Grenada, MS. She survives. Mr. White graduated from High School in Grenada, MS. and was an avid fisherman. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II aboard the U. S. S. Atherton. He was employed in the Caterpillar Department at Electric Wheel, a division of Firestone for 30 years, retiring in 1982. Also surviving are two daughters, Jennette Davis and her husband Ronald of Quincy and Donnie Childs and her husband Bill of Grand Junction, CO.; three sons, Jim A. White and his wife Sharon of Quincy, Tom J. White and his wife Terri of Murryville, IL. and Dennis W. White and his wife Carol of Ewing, MO.; nine grandchildren, Renee White, Stacey Davis, Desiree White and Jim Allen all of Quincy, Jamie Godsey of Paris, KY., Rhonda White, Shanna White and Krista White all of Jacksonville, IL., and Rachel Childs of Grand Junction, CO.; seven great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; three brothers, Arlee White and his wife Lillian of Grenada, MS., J. C. White and his wife Manon and Harvey White all of Quincy; one sister, Vastie Anthony of Grenada, MS.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Joyce White in infancy and Bernice Cole; and two brothers, C. W. White in infancy and J. W. White. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Tom Waters. Burial with military rites by Payson VFW Post 2061 will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. |
