| Mr. J.C. White, 79, of 3107 South 24th, died at 11:49 a.m. Tuesday (March 12, 2002) in Blessing Hospital. Born July 2, 1922 in Grenada, MS., J. C. was the son of Harve and Beatrice Petty White. He married Manon R. Funk on July 28, 1951 in Quincy. She survives. Mr. White was employed for Electric Wheel, a division of Firestone for over 40 years, retiring as a foreman in the Paint Shop in 1981. Mr. White served his country as a Sergeant with the U. S. Army 74th Field Artillery Battalion during WW II, seeing action in Central Europe and the Rhineland. He received 4 Bronze Battle Stars. Also surviving is a daughter, Jay Anne Roan of Quincy; three grandchildren, Brett Roan, Miranda Roan and Alexis Goldberger; seven great grandchildren, Sierra and Josh Roan, Camden and Logan Steinkoenig and Morgan, Nolan and Lauren Goldberger; two brothers, Arlee White and his wife Lillian of Grenada, MS. and Harvey White of Quincy; a sister, Vastie Anthony of Grenada, MS.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David White; three brothers, J. W. White and James White and an infant brother, C. W. White; and two sisters, Bernice Cole and an infant sister, Joyce White. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson funeral home by the Rev. George Tomko. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Friday morning until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. |
