Mrs. Elsie Amelia Wich, 100, of Amelia Island, Florida, formerly of Quincy, died at 8:35 a.m. Saturday (January 10, 2004) in the Quality Health Nursing Home in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Born September 2, 1903 in Ursa, Elsie was the daughter of Carl Louis and Permelia Ann Vincent Neadeck. She married Oscar Joseph Wich on June 11, 1938 in Keokuk, Iowa. He died July 15, 1983. Elsie was a member of Central Baptist Church, was active with Quincy School PTA, was a Past President of the Adams County Cerebral Palsy Chapter, Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary #37, served as an officer and on committees for the 15th District American Legion Auxiliary, was Past Chapeau Salon #167 American Legion Auxiliary, a member of the U. S. Air Force Air Defense Command Ground Observer Corp and served as Department of Illinois Hospital Representative at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy with more than 25,000 volunteer hours. Mrs. Wich had been employed as a seamstress at Halbach-Schroeder. Surviving is a daughter, Laura Ann Blansett and her husband Dale of Amelia Island, FL; two grandchildren, Michael Joseph Blansett of Atlanta, GA. and Ann Marie Blansett of San Diego, CA.; and a great grandson, Nathan Michael Blansett of Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Wich was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Arthur W. Neadeck and an infant brother, Fred L. Neadeck; and two sisters, Anna Worman and Florence Worman. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Baker. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Hospital School of Nursing. |
