Mr. Joseph William Wilson, 56, of 1223 North 4th, died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday (April 1, 2004) in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Born November 28, 1947 in Clinton, New York, Joe was the son of William J. and Beatrice L. Linck Wilson. He married Linda Emerick on November 13, 1993 in Barneveld, New York. She survives. Joe was a graduate of Clinton High School in Clinton, New York and the National Broadcasters School in Washington, D. C. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War, receiving three Bronze Battle Stars. He was a member of the Quincy American Legion Post #37 and the V. F. W. Post #5126. He loved to play the guitar, do woodworking and celebrate his favorite holiday St. Patricks Day. Joe worked as a Disc Jockey for radio stations in the North East for 20 years before moving to Quincy where he was currently employed at the Quincy Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Linda; a son, Greg Wilson of Clinton, N. Y.; a daughter, Julieanne Wilson of Clinton, N. Y.; three step sons, John Tournear and his wife Tammy and Adam Tournear both of Oneida, N. Y. and Daniel Tournear and his wife Michelle of Liberty, IL.; a step daughter, Becky Cosotino and her husband Tony of Rome, N. Y.; seven step grandchildren; special friends, Cole and Janet Schaffnit of Quincy; his father in law, Carl Emerick Sr. and mother in law, Lucy Emerick of Quincy; three brothers in law, Carl Emerick Jr. and his wife Sherrie of Quincy, Guy Emerick and his wife Joyce of Golden and Virgil Emerick and his wife Angie of Camp Point; three sisters in law, Joyce Bryan and her husband Maurice of Quincy, Janet Lamond of Long Beach, CA. and Laura Burton and her husband Larry of Camp Point; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Brian E. Wilson and George "Inky" Wilson. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 at All Saints Parrish, St. Johns Church by the Rev. Robert Jallas. Burial with Military Honors by Payson V.F.W. Post #2061 will be in Sunset Cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund. |
