Mr. Ernest W. Winget, 71, of 2929 Whewell, died at 11:10 p.m. Thursday (January 11, 2001) in the emergency room of Blessing Hospital.

Born August 2, 1929 in Quincy, Mr. Winget was the son of Ernest and Stella Crabby Winget. He married Colleen M. Mintle on May 13, 1950 in Quincy. She survives. Mr. & Mrs. Winget celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary last May.

Mr. Winget was of the Catholic Faith. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling and taking walks.

Mr. Winget was employed by Miller Hy Grade, later known as Hey Brothers Ice Cream Company for 27 years. He then owned and operated Charles Chips, a home delivery service and later was employed by The Wood Peddler until it closed, and then for Turner Auto Supply until his retirement in 1998.

Also surviving is a son, Randy Winget of Quincy; three daughters, Judy Smith and her husband Bill and Linda Brenner both of Quincy and Sharon Duss of O'Fallon, MO.; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; seven sisters, Anna Miller of Quincy, Millie Shelton and her husband John of the State of Tennessee, and Rita of Missouri and Susan, Joan, Janet and Alice all of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Winget was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jeffery Smith; four brothers, Oscar, Harry, Larry and Don; and two sisters, Mary Edith in infancy and Helen.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. John Carberry. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the Alzheimer's Foundtion.
