MAE ZUMWALT
Mrs. Mae Zumwalt, 89, of 1707 North 12th, formerly of Wood River, IL., died at 7:50 a.m. Saturday (September 8, 2001) in Blessing Hospital.

Born May 8, 1912 in Springfield, IL., Mae was the daughter of James Walter and Nellie Mae Thurston McDow. She married Frankie O. Zumwalt on October 27, 1943 in Lampasas, TX. He died July 20, 1991.

Mae was a graduate of Marquette High School in Alton and was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wood River, where she was a member of the St. Ann Altar Society. She also served as a Past Regent for the Wood River Moose Lodge and was an avid Bingo player.

Mae was employed as a bookkeeper for many years at Authorize Auto Supply in Wood River.

Surviving is a daughter, Frances "Cookie" McBride of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three sisters, Margaret Fudurich, Edith Wadlow and Helen Kelly.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 8:30 in the All Faiths Chapel of the Illinois Veterans Home by the Rev. Richard Jeske. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veterans Home.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday until the time of services at the All Faiths Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Little Flower Church in Springfield.
