WILMA A. WITTE

Mrs. Wilma A. Witte, 73, of 4603 South 6th, died at 10:40 a.m. Thursday (June 16, 2005) in her home.

Born October 16, 1931 in Quincy, Wilma was the daughter of William and Florine J. Moore Menzel. She married Arthur C. Witte on June 1, 1957 in Quincy. He survives.

Wilma was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ and the Salem Couples Club. She was a 1949 graduate of Quincy High School and received her R.N. degree from Washington University School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri. Wilma volunteered in the Adult Literacy Program at John Wood Community College and at the Adams County Red Cross. She was a member of the Christian Women United and was active as a Parish Nurse. She enjoyed gardening and reading.

Mrs. Witte began her nursing career at Blessing Hospital and then was employed in the offices of Dr. John Stevenson and then for Dr. Randall McClelland for several years until her retirement.

Surviving is her husband, Art; two sons, Arthur H. Witte and his wife LuAnn of Payson and H. Douglas Witte and his wife Mindy of Columbia, MO.; six grandchildren, Samuel Witte, Jordan Witte, Luke Witte, Christian Witte, Seth Witte and Grace Witte all of Payson; a sister, Willeyne Harper and her husband Karl of Plainville; three nephews; and two nieces.

Mrs. Witte was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Andrew Scott Witte.

Graveside services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 at Greenmount Cemetery by Rev. Wanda Seydel.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 3:00 until 6:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
