ADDIE ANNA KLASING
Addie Anna Klassing, 95, of 625 Washington died at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday (April 10, 2012) in her home.
Born February 3, 1917 in Burton Township, Addie was the daughter of William C. "Dick" and Mary Elliott Lierly. She married Ralph Klasing in 1940 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1960.
Addie attended Gem City Business College. She loved animals especially her cat Sunshine and dog Podo and enjoyed gardening and playing Santa Claus at Christmas time for her family. She helped to raise her younger sister Margaret. Addie was a very giving person who was always ready to help other people and her many friends. She loved seeing people laugh and enjoy life.
Before her marriage Addie was employed at the Adams County Farm Bureau office and then as as waitress at the Majestic Cafeteria in Quincy. After her marriage she and her husband Ralph were livestock traders until illness forced his retirement. While helping her husband she also supported her mother in running the family farm in Burton Township.
Survivors include her sister Margaret Lierly of Quincy; Special friends and caregivers Brenda Hess, Belinda Hardy, Mary Bryant all of Quincy and Genesia Hanley of Canton, Missouri.
Mrs. Klasing was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ralph.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Ivan Greuter and Russell Hess officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 3:00 until 6:00 and Monday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society or to Blessing Hospice.
