Annie Sutherland, 89, of Quincy, died at 3:25 p.m. Monday (November 14, 2016) in her home.
Born May 28, 1927 in Carmunnock, Scotland, Annie was the daughter of Charlie and Agnes Black McPhie. She married Dr. James W. Sutherland on March 20, 1964 in Glasgow, Scotland. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2008.
Annie was a longtime member of Spring Lake Country Club where she enjoyed golfing and playing tennis. She also enjoyed crocheting, going to the "Boat" and loved traveling.
Annie devoted her life to raising her family and she cherished the time she spent with them. She will especially be missed by her loving pet dog, Lucy.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. Charles Sutherland (Stephanie) of Moberly, MO, Craig William Sutherland (Angela) of Newnan, GA and James Ronald Sutherland (Jan) of Quincy; three daughters, Anne McIllece (Patrick) of Walcott, IA, June Sutherland Chiesa of Gurnee, IL and Patricia Sutherland Cornwell (Steven) of Quincy; a daughter in law, Kay Sutherland of Quincy; 22 grandchildren, James Gary Sutherland (Cyndi) of Benton, IL., Linda McMillan (Bryan) of Archdale, N.C., Tracy Sanders (Brian) of Crystal Lake, IL., Sean McIllece (Becky) of Stafford, VA, Scott McIllece (Jennifer) of Libertyville, IL., Brian McIllece of Des Moines, IA., Justin McIllece (Leticia) of Washington, D.C., Ian Sutherland (Ashlee) of Columbia, MO., Tyler Sutherland, Logan Sutherland and Shelby Sutherland all of Moberly, MO., Harrison Chiesa, Jessica Chiesa and William Chiesa all of Gurnee, IL., Jack Sutherland and Katie Sutherland both of Newnan, GA., Jeremy Mast (Shannon)of St. Louis, MO., Brandon Spalding and his wife Kara of Quincy, Zachary Sutherland and Courtney Nicole Sutherland both of Quincy and Madeline Cornwell and Samuel Cornwell both of Quincy; 16 great grandchildren with another due in June; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sutherland was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. James Sutherland; and a son, Malcolm John Sutherland.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 6:00 and Monday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
