Arthur Guy "Art" Bunte, 89, of Quincy, died at 12:46 p.m. Tuesday (August 1, 2017) in Blessing Hospital.
Born May 19, 1928 in Quincy, Art was the son of Samuel and Myrta Williams Bunte. He married Judith Anne "Judy" Stith on February 14, 1952 at Luther Memorial Church in Quincy. She survives.
Mr. Bunte left High School early to enlist in the U. S. Navy. He served aboard the USS Gosselin from 1945 to 1949.
Art was a lifelong member Luther Memorial Church. He loved spending time with his family who will remember him as a loving grandpa to his grandchildren, Alexa and Jacob.
Art was a member of the North Side Boat Club and enjoyed walking in the Mall, gardening, bowling, playing cards, and going to the boat.
Art was employed for 41 years as a truck driver for Consumer Sales Distributing Company, retiring as the warehouse manager in 1991.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Judy of Quincy; a son, Mark Bunte of Maineville, OH; two grandchildren, Alexa McLaughlin and Jacob McLaughlin; a sister, Mary Remy of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Susan McLaughlin; four sisters, Betty Walz, Mildred Knorr, Helen Bruemmer and Ruth Calkins; and a brother in infancy.
Graveside services with Military Honors by the United States Naval Funeral Honors Detail will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the Quincy Memorial Park Mausoluem with Pastor Gayle Pope officiating.
There is no visitation but family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service.
Arrangements are in the care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center or the Blessing Heart Center.
