Barbara M. Pryor, 81, of Plainville, Illinois, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Saturday (May 19, 2018) in her home.
Born July 5, 1936 in New Salem, Illinois, Barbara was the daughter of Francis Cary and Wylma Ellen Milligan Smith. She married Lee E. Pryor Sr. on July 4, 1962 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2016.
Barbara served her country in peacetime as a medic in the U. S. Army.
Barbara was a member of the Plainville United Methodist Church and Alpha Chapter 109 Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, solving word search puzzles, gardening and tending to her house plants and will be remembered as an excellent cook. Her greatest joy was the time she shared with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was employed at Dura Automotive in Hannibal, Missouri for many years until her retirement.
Survivors include four sons, Lee E. Pryor Jr. (Mindy) of Plainville, IL, Kevin Pryor (Marcia) of Palmyra, MO, Kenneth Pryor (Tonya) of Monroe City, MO and Francis Pryor (Terri) of Payson, IL; eleven grandchildren, Sara Campbell (Luke), Juliann Pryor, Emilee Pryor, Abbie Pryor, Lee E. Pryor III, Ariel Pryor, Nicholas Pryor, Layne Pryor, Krista Fainter (Matt), Shawn McCord (Kristen) and Marissa Massner; seven great grandchildren, Adam Campbell, Natalie Campbell, Alaina Fainter, Liam Fainter, Rogan McCord , Barrett McCord and Amber Pryor; a cousin, Shirley Carr of Clayton, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee E. Pryor Sr.; and two brothers, Francis Clark Smith in infancy and Harvey Smith.
Cremation arrangements are in the care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
Alpha Chapter 109 Order of Eastern Star will conduct services Friday evening (June 8, 2018) at 6:00. Memorial services will be held Friday evening (June 8, 2018) at 6:15 in the Plainville United Methodist Church with Pastor Lois Sorrill officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.
Memorial visitation will be Friday evening (June 8, 2018) from 4:00 to 6:00 at the Plainville United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to Plainville Untied Methodist Church, Payson Fall Creek Fire Department or the James E. Cary Cancer Center.
