Beatrice "Bea" (Bumpass) Schwartz

March 3, 1927 ~ February 23, 2018 (age 90)


   Beatrice "Bea" Schwartz, 90, of Sunset Home, passed away at 7:11 p.m. Friday (February 23, 2018) at Sunset Home.

   Born March 3, 1927 in Dixon, Missouri, Bea was the daughter of Clay and Alice Lucille Molt Bumpass.  She married Tony Schwartz on November 24, 1972 in Quincy. He preceded her in death September 3, 1989.

   Bea was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Sunset Home Auxiliary and R.S.V.P.  She loved helping others by volunteering at Blessing Hospital and Sunset Home.  Bea enjoyed playing cards and Bingo and loved getting together with her family.

   Bea attended Gem City Business College. She was employed as a secretary for National Life Insurance Company and later for KAR Products in Quincy until her retirement.

   Survivors include two daughters, Dana Schrader (Bob) of Quincy and Caryl Sibbing (Mick) of Quincy; a son, David Christy (Diane) of Fairfield, IL; seven grandchildren, Alisa Christy, Nathan Sibbing, Josh Sibbing, Kellie Brown, Brian Schrader (Kolleen), Kimberly Schrader and Lisa Smith; seven great grandchildren, Jackson Sibbing, Alison Brown, Ashley  Schrader, Nick Schrader, Kelsey Schrader, Anderson Sibbing and Reece Holmes; two sisters, Olive Short (John "Jim") of Liberty, IL and Krethen Krogman (Allen) of Quincy; a sister in law, Tressa Bumpass of Fairfield, IL; a brother in law, Howard Cornwell of Canyon County, CA; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Bea was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tony; a son, Scott Christy; two brothers, Dean Bumpass and Clyde Bumpass; and a sister, Virginia Cornwell.

   Graveside services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 in Calvary Cemetery with Pastor Tom Rains and Pastor Dennis Mallory officiating.

   There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the graveside service.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
