   Betty A. Schwindeler, 79, of Quincy, died at 11:39 a.m. Saturday (November 19, 2016) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born March 18, 1937 in Quincy, Betty was the daughter of Joseph and Anna Marie Muffly Kerkhoff.  She married George Louis Newbanks IV on October 6, 1956 in Quincy.  She later married Charles F. Schwindeler on August 19, 1981 in Quincy.  He preceded her in death on February 26, 2005.

   Betty was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church and a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary.  She enjoyed Bingo, dancing, crocheting, macrame, and singing karyoke and will be remembered by her family as a great cook.  Betty loved helping others and volunteered for various charities, especially working with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

   A 1955 graduate of Quincy High School, Betty was active in organizing many class reunions over the years.  She devoted her life to raising her family and she cherished the time she spent with them, with her grandchildren and great grandchildren being her pride and joy.

   Survivors include a daughter, Therese McNary (Robert) of Ursa, IL; two sons, George Newbanks V (Mary) of Quincy and Russell Newbanks (Patricia) of Shreveport, LA; a step son, Marty Schwindeler (Louise) of Quincy; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Kerkhoff (Joan) of Quincy; and many nieces and nephews.

   Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; and a brother, Donald Kerkhoff.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

   Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.  A Rosary Service will be held Friday afternoon at 3:15 at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Meals Plus or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
