BETTY MAE WALLACE
Betty Mae Wallace, 96, of Quincy, died at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday (August 23, 2016) in the Illinois Veteran's Home.
Born May 9, 1920 in Peoria, Illinois, Betty was the daughter of Thomas and Beatrice Haney Barber. She married Aaron "Pete" "Pappy" Wallace in Peoria in 1940. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2009.
Betty was a member of the Church of Christ in Elmwood, Illinois for over 30 years. She served as a volunteer in all her church activities and was active in all the school events when her daughter was in school. Betty was a wonderful wife, mother and caregiver for her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Andrea Blakley (Bill) of Smithfield, IL; two grandchildren Kim Ward (Don) and Erin Blakley; three great grandchildren Brittany, Nicole and Timothy; a brother, Victor Barber (Mary) of North Port, FL. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Graveside services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:00 in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the graveside services.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to the Yates City Ambulance Service.
The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy, IL, 1435 State Street, is in charge of the arrangements.
