Billy E. "Bill" Maynard, 88, of Quincy, died at 11:10 a.m. Sunday (April 28, 2013) in his home.
Born December 23, 1924 in Camp Point, Illinois, Bill was the son of Walter Emmett and Mabel Emma Deterding Maynard. He married Joyce Board on February 14, 2002 in Hannibal, Missouri. She survives.
Bill was a member of Ducks Unlimited and Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ where he was active with the Men's Fellowship Club and served on the church council for 3 years. He enjoyed working in his yard, cooking, playing cards, dancing, traveling and making trips to the boat.
Bill farmed and was employed at Moorman Manufacturing for 17 years until he began work at Good Samaritan Home where he worked for several years until his retirement. Bill was also employed at Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; two daughters, Judie Maynard of Simpson, IL and Janie Baucom (John) of Liberty, IL; two sons, James P. Maynard (Susie) and Jay Maynard (Kendra) both of Quincy; two step daughters, Ella Marie Ransdell and Patti Jordan both of Quincy; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; a very special grandchild, Adam Dreyer, who lived at home with Bill and Joyce; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews including Rusty Board (Tammy) of Marblehead, IL.
Mr. Maynard was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Reva Flesner.
Memorial services will be held Saturday May 11, 2013 at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Disseler officiating.
