BILLIE JEAN MATTICKS
Billie Jean Matticks, 79, of 4211 North 36th Street, Quincy, died at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday (December 20, 2011) in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Born October 7, 1932 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, Billie was the daughter of William and Ada Flynn Deters. She married Bobby Gene Matticks on July 11, 1953 in New London, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2009.
Billie Jean was a 1950 graduate of Quincy High School and a graduate of the Waukegan School of Nursing. She enjoyed playing bingo, watching television and reading western stories.
Billie was employed as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary Hospital where she taught the Licensed Practical Nursing Program. After retiring from St. Mary's she worked at the Illinois Veteran's Home and Lincoln Hill Nursing Home until her retirement. Billie and her husband also owned and operated the Round Up Tavern in Quincy for 25 years.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin Matticks and Alan Matticks both of Quincy; a daughter, Brenda L. Matticks of Quincy; a step daughter, Sally Hogan of Columbia, MO; six grandchildren, Joshua Matticks and his wife Michelle of Marcelline, IL, Alan Matticks Jr, Holly Cannady, Logan Cannady, Amber Matticks, and Charles Matticks all of Quincy; and four great grandchildren, Keaton Cannady of Quincy, Breanna Matticks, Kassidy Matticks and Dylan Matticks all of Marcelline, IL.
Mrs. Matticks was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Bobby.
Memorial services will be held Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Rice officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 until the time of the service at Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
