Billy B. McGraw

February 22, 1933 ~ April 8, 2018 (age 85)

  BILLY B. MCGRAW
     Billy B. McGraw, 85, of Quincy, passed away at 8:45 pm Sunday (April 8, 2018) at the Illinois Veterans Home. 
    Born February 22, 1933 in Oquawka, Illinois, Billy was the son of Clifford and Bertha Baxter McGraw. He married Patricia A. Thomas in 1956 in Carmen, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 10, 2017. 
   Billy was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War where he received the National Defense Service Medal, the UN Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. 
   A 1951 graduate of Gladstone High School, Billy was an excellent athlete  and was an All State recipient in multiple sports including track, basketball and football. He enjoyed traveling and going on family vacations. Billy especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He had an excellent sense of humor and was always ready with a joke and a smile. Billy was retired from Titan Wheel.      
     Survivors include a son, Darin McGraw (Cindy) of Liberty, IL; a daughter, Victoria Carlstead (Stephen) of Georgetown, IL; four grandchildren, Brandon Carlstead, Zack McGraw, Jayde McGraw and Sophie McGraw; a sister, Pauline Woods of Gladstone, Illinois; and a sister in law, Dianne Warning (Clyde) of Redfield, SD. 
     Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Patricia; two brothers, Bob McGraw and Lee McGraw; three sisters, Frances Faye, Irma Ravenscraft and  Kate McGraw in infancy; and a nephew, Leslie Dean Warning. 
     Cremation rites have been accorded to Billy. Graveside services with military honors by the United States Marine Corps Funeral Honors Detail will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 in Quincy Memorial Park with Monsignor Michael Kuse officiating. 
     There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the graveside service. 
    Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund. 
    Arrangements are in the care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
